Autor de la versión original del tema conocido como "Pluma pluma gay" y dueño de varios hits en Europa, el cantante busca insertarse en Chile con el Festival como catapulta.

 

VIÑA DEL MAR.- Ya es entrada la madrugada de este jueves, cuando los animadores del Festival de Viña del Mar anuncian los nombres que quedan en competencia tras el primer corte en el certamen Internacional del evento. Raspando con un 4,8 pasa en tercer lugar —tras Canadá e Inglaterra— la canción de Rumania, la llamativa "Rumadai", interpretada por el aún más llamativo Arsenium.

 

El cantante ha gozado de cierta celebridad en estos días, principalmente por el antecedente de ser el autor de "Dragostea din tei", un tema de 2003 que se transformó en un éxito en diversas latitudes. "Fui número uno en Japón, tuve nueve discos de platino por vender un millón de copias. Fui número uno en diversos países de Europa. La canción es muy popular", cuenta. Años después, esa popularidad incluso llegaría a Chile, donde la aludida pieza se transformó en una de las más reproducidas.

 

Claro que no como "Dragostea din tei", sino como "Pluma pluma gay", el paródico cover que hicieron los españoles Los Morancos, con el que Arsenium tiene lejanas diferencias. "Hay cerca de 200 artistas cantando la canción en diferentes idiomas. Y uno de esos covers es el que se escuchó aquí en Chile. Pero en rumano no es una canción sobre ser gay. En el coro dice 'te quieres ir, pero no me lleves contigo' ", cuenta a Emol.

 

Con ese antecedente llegó a la Competencia Internacional, gracias a un verdadero experto en ubicar nombres en el certamen: Óscar "Lolo" Peña, el mismo que en 1996 llegó con un desconocido Paolo Meneguzzi y luego con otra serie de representantes, sobre todo italianos.

 

La historia es así: "Yo estaba viviendo en Italia, en Milán, y en el estudio conocí a Óscar a través de un amigo en común que nos presentó. Nos hicimos amigos y me dijo 'anda a Chile, ya eres famoso aquí, hazte famoso en Chile'. Yo le pregunté 'cómo' y me dijo 'hay un festival, el mejor festival de Latinoamérica'.
